Your privacy is important to us. StepSafe is designed with a privacy-first approach — we do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. If you purchase a subscription, payment is processed by Apple; we do not receive your card or bank details.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

StepSafe does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:

• Personal identification information (e.g., name, email)
• Health or medical information
• Location or GPS data
• Sensor data history
• Usage analytics or behavior tracking

3. Emergency Contact Information

If you enter an emergency contact phone number, it:

• Is stored only on your local device
• Is used only to initiate a call during a detected fall event
• Is never sent to our servers (we do not operate servers for StepSafe)

4. Local Data Storage

All app-related data — fall history, emergency phone numbers, settings — is stored securely on your device and is not accessible to us or third parties.

5. No Third-Party Services or SDKs

StepSafe does not include any third-party tracking SDKs. We do not show ads, and we do not share any data with external services.

6. Children's Privacy

StepSafe is intended for users aged 14 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under this age.

7. International Users

Because we do not collect data, privacy principles aligned with GDPR (EU), CCPA (California), and PIPA (Korea) are respected by design.

8. Your Rights

Because we do not store user data externally, there is no need to request data access or deletion. If you delete the app, all locally stored data is removed.

Welcome to StepSafe by beflex Inc. By using this app you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully.

2. Purpose and Use

StepSafe is a personal safety tool that detects falls and freezing of gait (FoG) using AirPods or iPhone motion sensors, notifies users via in-app alerts, and enables automatic or manual emergency calls to a pre-registered contact.

StepSafe is not a medical device. It is intended only as a supplementary aid for personal safety and monitoring.

3. Eligibility

• You are 14 years or older
• You use it as a personal safety support tool, not for clinical diagnosis or treatment

4. Account & Access

StepSafe does not require account registration. Full access is available through an auto-renewing subscription after any free trial, billed through the App Store.

5. Subscription & Free Trial

7-day free trial for new subscribers. After the trial: $9.99/month or $79.99/year (~$6.67/mo). Prices are in USD unless otherwise shown in the App Store. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled in Apple ID settings at least 24 hours before the period ends.

Apple's Standard EULA (apple.com/legal/…/stdeula/) also applies.

6. Emergency Contacts

Numbers registered in the app are used only when a fall is detected and the countdown is not cancelled. StepSafe may initiate a call via tel: link; you are responsible for ensuring your device can place calls.

7. Data & Privacy

No personal data is collected or transmitted. All data is stored locally. No cloud storage, tracking, or analytics is used.

8. Device Requirements

Compatible iPhone · Apple AirPods (for AirPods motion mode) or iPhone worn at waist (for waist mode) · Microphone and speaker access.

9. Limitation of Liability

beflex Inc. makes no guarantees regarding accuracy or reliability. Fall or freeze detection may not work in all situations. You use StepSafe at your own risk. beflex Inc. is not liable for any injury or damage, including failure to detect or notify during an actual emergency.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing Law

Governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Disputes to be resolved by good-faith negotiation or arbitration before litigation.

How to use StepSafe

What is StepSafe?

StepSafe monitors your movement using motion from your AirPods or iPhone (worn at the waist). It detects falls and freezing of gait (FoG), alerts you instantly, and can call your emergency contact if you don't respond within 60 seconds.

StepSafe is not a medical device. Use it as a support tool, not for diagnosis or treatment.

Step 1 — Getting started

1. Put on your AirPods (for head-motion mode) or prepare to carry your iPhone at your waist (for waist mode). Open StepSafe on your iPhone.
2. Check the Motion source on the main screen. Change it in Settings → Monitoring & cues → Motion source:
   • Auto (AirPods → waist): AirPods when connected; automatically switches to iPhone if disconnected.
   • AirPods only: Head motion exclusively.
   • Waist only (iPhone): iPhone's motion sensor at the waist.
3. If the start button is dimmed, the selected motion source isn't ready. Fix the connection or switch source, then try again.
4. Tap Start StepSafe to begin. Tap Pause StepSafe to stop; tap again to resume.

Step 2 — How monitoring works

While active, StepSafe tracks your movement in real time. If it detects patterns consistent with a fall or freezing of gait, it alerts you immediately.

Step 3 — Fall detection and alerts

1. When a possible fall is detected, a countdown alert appears on screen.
2. You have 60 seconds to respond: tap I'm OK to dismiss, or Call now to immediately call your emergency contact.
3. If you don't respond within 60 seconds, StepSafe automatically calls the first number in your emergency contacts.

Step 4 — Emergency contact

1. Go to Settings → Manage numbers.
2. Add at least one trusted phone number (family member, caregiver).
3. StepSafe uses the first number for automatic calls after an unacknowledged fall alert.

Step 5 — Sensitivity, cues, and rhythm

In Settings → Monitoring & cues:

• FoG sensitivity — how readily the app reacts (lower = more sensitive).
• Cue volume — loudness of rhythm cues.
• Cue playback mode — Always when walking, or Only when freezing.
• Use recommended cue BPM — on: follows your measured cadence; off: uses your manual BPM.

Episode tagging after events enables Auto sensitivity, which fine-tunes FoG detection over time.

Step 6 — Reports

Open the Reports tab for daily summaries, a weekly heatmap, and a monthly overview of fall and freezing activity.

Tips

• Keep StepSafe running while you walk and make sure the motion source is consistently set up.
• Keep your iPhone and AirPods charged so alerts aren't interrupted.
• Walk through the setup with someone you trust so they know what to expect.
